Clean Eating Detox

Hi Everyone,

I have successfully finished week two of my clean eating detox. (Thankfully) I think this is the longest I have gone without having to binge due to high temptations for chocolate, coke or chips.  I think I am doing well but obviously there is always room for improvement.

Thanks to my brother who is very health conscious for motivating and some what threatening my sister and I to change our eating habits. Now it is time to put everything that I’ve read and heard about clean eating to practice. There is a hundred and one different dieting techniques out there. By no means am I a dietician so I am in no position to give advice on much. Not only from a professional perspective but also need to see if what I am doing is going to work.

Anyways, on Saturday I just felt like a refreshing, filling but healthy lunch. I was working in Port Melbourne so I started researching local restaurants and cafes that would statisfy my craving. And boy oh boy did I hit the jackpot. I found amazing places that offered healthy options. My all time favourite thing to eat on all occasions would be salad.

Every. single. type. of. salad.

I can probably eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. As you may know, I did a mini series of salad recipes on my blog. This is where I shared 5 different salad recipes over 5 days. They were easy, refreshing and filling. I will provide the links to all my Heathy Eating post below, please feel free to take a look at them.

Okay back to talking about the amazing salads I had on Saturday. Luckily I took a picture that I can share. So I got a mix of two, first one was with broccoli and peanuts; the other was shredded veggies like cabbage, beetroot, carrot and heaps more.

There was a variety of different options like; vegan, vegetarian and gluten free. (Winning!)

Avocado and Banana Smoothie – Recipe

Hi Everyone,

I’ve decided to treat you all today with one of my favourite smoothie recipes to commemorate the return of my blog. I tried something similar to this at a café and thought I could experiment with the ingredients and added my own twist. When I first saw this smoothie on the menu, I was a little taken back and wasn’t sure what to expect, however I couldn’t resist the temptation to not try it. I shared this recipe on my Snapchat and was pretty ecstatic to see I inspired my friends to try it as well.

If you love avocado, there is a high chance that you will enjoy this recipe, and most likely share it with your own circle of friends.

INGREDIENTS

Avocado

Coconut milk

Banana (A handy tip that I like to use, incorporate bananas that are completely ripe as they will add a nice sweet taste)

Chia seeds

Honey (optional- I don’t like my smoothies too sweet so I generally leave it out)

Coco powder (optional)

Ice (This is a must for my smoothies, nothing I hate more than a warm beverage. Thinking about it actually makes me si

METHOD:

Combine everything in a blender and wiz it all together. This smoothie is quite fulling and a perfect alternative for breakfast for those who are on the go. Also, if you aren’t a big fan of really thick smoothies just dilute it with some water or move coconut milk. I have not included measurements so make it according to your liking.

The Great Return – UPDATE

Hi Everyone,

Sorry that I’ve been so M.I.A lately. I don’t think that I really need to explain myself as this isn’t my full time job/income [wish it was though]. To put it quite simply, I haven’t had the motivation to do much if not anything for so long but I have finally built up the courage and motivation to write my thoughts down.  Honestly, I did have motivation to write and create blog posts but it was always at the wrong times, like in the middle of exam period, while at work or at 3 AM in the morning.  I want to write about so much and have so many ideas but I just haven’t gotten around to creating them yet. Also I kind of became a pro at procrastinating which is never a good thing. Thanks to my lovely family and friends who have given me the motivation to start blogging again. Maybe this time I will be more consistent and orderly.  I only started blogging as a hobby but have come to enjoy it dearly and turn to it like a ‘Creative Outlet.’

Okay so you may be asking what on earth I have been doing for the past 100+ days, well to be quite honest; university, work, rest and repeat. And if I need to get into specifics, I have been running out of time and energy to do anything besides the above listed. Tired is a word that I used to use so loosely. Now I understand that when I used to say it for petty things like going shopping it was so pointless. I have also understood the difference between physical and mental exhaustion. I wish I only felt physically fatigued. [This reminds me that I should get back into the gym-opps!] Anyways I have basically written a whole paragraph about being tired/exhausted/fatigued.

Now to get to the positive topics. I want to start a new page in my life and document my journey with weight loss. I haven’t been taking as many OOTD/OOTN’s because I haven’t been feeling the best about myself. I think this is a great opportunity to document my change and keep motivated. This is just a thought and I’m not sure if it’s actually going to work but for once I’m being optimistic. I’m planning on write reviews, sharing more outfit ideas, recipes and D.I.Y’s.

I have changed my link which is going to take some time to get used to. ‘Hold my Poodle’ started off as a joke between my friends and I about one of our favourite movies. For some reason I am just looking for any reason to not post this. It feels as though this is my first blog post ever and I am just anxious.

I hope you enjoy.

Summer Lovin’ – Floral Blazer, White Shirt & Emerald Skirt

Hi Everyone,

WOW!

I can’t believe it has been five months since my last post. What can I say, life just got in the way and blogging was thrown on the back burner. At the end of the day, blogging is my hobby and unfortunately I have not prioritized it well.

I am happy to share that I am currently employed and doing the job I love. Over the past five months, it has been difficult to balance work, school, family and friends since I have been working almost everyday. As it is approaching holiday season, I have countless special occasions coming up and I only thought it was right to share my outfits/ideas on my blog.

I had taken these photo months ago but did not want to post them without writing anything to accompany it.

I absolutely LOVE this skirt!

I can’t remember if I posted about it previously on my blog but it is a favorite.

High wasited skirts are so flattering and I believe they make me look slim. And who doesn’t want to look and feel skinny?

A white shirt like mentioned on numerous occasions is a MUST HAVE! It would be an understatement if I say it goes with everything. When wearing a collared shirt, a statement and extravagant necklace turn your outfit from day wear to evening wear in seconds.

    Blazers

If it was up to me I would wear them every day. If you have been following my blog from the start, you will know that once the word ‘Blazer’ is mentioned, my heart skips a beat. I have provided the links to my previous posts about this amazing clothing type.

CHOCOLATE CHIP MUFFINS

As the end of the semester is approaching and the exams are getting closer, it’s so easy to get distracted or just simply procrastinate. I don’t know if anyone else is also a “Stress Baker” like me but I generally bake when my exams are around the corner . You may be asking, what on Earth is stress baker? Basically it is someone who bakes when they are under pressure or simply just stressed out. I tend to watch cooking videos on Youtube or just looking at websites such as Taste. I found some chocolate chips in the kitchen and started to look for recipes that I can use them in, the options were either chocolate chip muffins or chocolate chip cookies. And I chose to make the MUFFINS!

INGREDIENTS:

DSC_3750

1 3/4 cups (250 grams or 8.8 ounces) all-purpose flour

2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

2/3 cup (135 grams or 4.8 ounces) granulated sugar

DSC_3751
Generally Caster sugar (white) that is used in this recipe but I have used Raw sugar (brown) instead.

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 large egg, slightly beaten

1 cup milk

1/3 cup canola oil (or vegetable, safflower)

1 cup chocolate chips/chunks

I have used Milk Chocolate chips/chunks. You can replace these with dark chocolate, white chocolate or even nuts such as walnuts and hazelnuts.

UTENSILS:

Muffin tin

Muffin lining

Large bowl

Medium bowl

Measuring cups

Sifter

Wooden spoon/rubber spatula

METHOD:

  1. Preheat oven to 425F/220C degrees. Butter 12 muffin cups or line them with liner papers.
  2. In a large bowl sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add sugar.
  3. DSC_3758In a medium bowl, mix the egg with the milk and oil.
  4. DSC_3760Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and fold with a wooden spoon or a rubber spatula just until combined. Do not over mix. The batter should be quite thick and lumpy. Fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Divide the mixture between the muffin cups almost all the way to the top.
  6. DSC_3770Bake for 3 minutes and then reduce the oven temperature to 375F/190C and continue to bake for an additional 12-17 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center of the muffin comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes and then move to a wire rack to cool completely.

And Voilà!

P.s. Don’t forget to clean up after yourself. This is the worst part but if you finish cleaning before the muffins are cooked, you will be able to sit down and enjoy them in peace!

FLORAL. STATEMENT. BLAZERS.

I am a sucker for STATEMENT BLAZERS especially when they are floral. Blazers are generally very versatile, easy to incorporate into an outfit and fun to accessorize.  Including a blazer into an outfit will automatically change it from casual into formal.  I have been trying to collect an extensive amount of blazers over the past couple of years. Most of the blazers I own are a little over sized which makes it easier to roll up the sleeves (which I love doing). As Melbourne weather is unpredictabe, it is very easy to wear these blazers as they are not so thick. My favorite place to look when it comes to blazers are online websites such as eBay,  ASOS, Boohoo and second-hand stores. If you find a blazer you like, chances are no one else will have it especially if you purchase it from an Op Shop.

Although the pattern on this blazer is quite busy, it is very easy to incorporate into an outfit.

An introduction to my new creative outlet…

Hi everyone,

I am Ayse and this will hopefully be one of many blog posts that I will share about the things I love. I’ve recently realised that I love sharing photos about the things I love and informing people about them also. So I thought, why don’t I just combine them both and create a blog. I have been looking into making a blog for a long time but couldn’t gather enough courage to start until now. I love anything to do with fashion, food and also photography. I am hoping that I can capture the things that make me happy and share them with all of you.
